Yes, Windows XP was retired back in April 2014. Yet there are still many of those that continued to use it in the SMB space (and others.) I wanted to share yet another reason to get them upgraded….
As of July 14th, 2015 Microsoft is no longer providing updates to Microsoft Security Essentials as well as the Malicious Software Removal Tool.
Per the FAQ at the End of Windows XP Support site:
Will Microsoft Security Essentials be supported after April 8, 2014?
Microsoft Security Essentials will not be available for download on Windows XP after April 8, 2014. If you already have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, you will continue to receive anti-malware signature updates through July 14, 2015. However, please note that PCs running Windows XP after April 8, 2014 should not be considered protected.
This will make it even more dangerous to continue to use Windows XP as the OS will now be susceptible to malware and viruses!
Thanks! And good selling… I mean upgrading!!
